Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 28 April 2007
| Lot 31 |
A Bulleid Pacific Cabside Number Panel "34017", with "7PSFA" power classification above and triangle below, from the SR "West Country" Class 4-6-2 No 21C117 "ILFRACOMBE" which emerged from Brighton Works in December 1945 and was to be one the earliest rebuilds at Eastleigh in November 1957. Early on it was allocated to Ramsgate although soon transferred to Stewarts Lane with three others of the Class specifically for working the "Golden Arrow", just re-introduced after the war. A policy was then introduced of moving the West Countries away from the Eastern Section, so 34017 was transferred to Exmouth Junction, returning to Stewarts Lane in 1954 and later moving to Bricklayers Arms, Ramsgate, Nine Elms, Eastleigh and finally back to Nine Elms from where it was withdrawn in October 1966. After nearly a year in store at Nine Elms, it was cut up between October 1967 and February 1968 at Buttigiegs, Newport from where this cabside was rescued. 44"x24_" in totally ex loco condition.
