Lot 344 A North Eastern Railway Wagonplate "CAPACITY. 54 TONS, BUILDERS, NER 1915", cast brass oval, 8"x4_", with bevelled edge. The plate was carried by a well wagon built to transport army tanks during the first world war. In its later life it was used on the internal railway system of an electrical transformer manufacturers in Newcastle and was scrapped during the 1950s/early 60s. The plate has been cleaned and the lettering polished.
