Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 19 January 2008
| Lot 18 |
An LMS Hawkseye Sign "FENNY COMPTON", from the Stratford upon Avon and Midland Junction Railway which closed to passengers on the 7th April 1952 and completely in 1964/65. The station was renamed Fenny Compton West in 1948, to differentiate it from the GWR Station close by on the Banbury - Leamington route, however the new suffix was not applied to the signs, as this example is in its original LMS black and yellow, with reflective glass coating; 55" long and just at it was removed. An example from this station has never been offered for sale before.
