The following year it moved to the West Country at Newton Abbot from where it was withdrawn in August 1958 to be cut up two months later at Swindon Works. Most unusually, and attractively, the cabside retains its original red background paint. The red background colour was introduced by an instruction issued in November 1949 following a suggestion by a member of the public but the practice was discontinued in April 1952, apparently following complaints from numerous railway enthusiasts, especially photographers. In most cases the red had been overpainted with the standard black background before the engines were withdrawn (or later by collectors who acquired the plates) but this engine must have avoided a repaint before it met its end. After storage at Bournemouth for some nine months, it was moved to Barry Docks where it became one of the few locos to be scrapped by Dai Woodham in May 1965. One of the best names in the Class, it never had an accompanying badge, and is one of only three with 5" high letters instead of the standard 6" letters, the others being Templecombe and Bere Alston. Ex loco condition, a lovely example, 75" long, original red paintwork with green on the rim, the scroll likewise untouched.
