| Lot 1 | A GCR enamel Poster Board Header "GREAT CENTRAL", the white wording displayed on a blue silhouette of one of the company's 4-6-0 passenger locomotives, possibly a B8 Class. Overall 27_"x5" and in excellent condition with just minor chips around the screw holes. A rare and delightful enamel, which we are not aware of being offered at auction previously. An illustration of such a sign is included in George Dow's "Great Central Album" on page 121. |
