A Railway Letter Cancellation Stamp "BRACKLEY STATION, G.C.Ry", from Brackley Central station on the company's London extension. These examples were issued by the Post Office for the cancellation of railway letter stamps and in this case would date from the opening of the line in 1899. The stamp has an oval brass head, 1_"x1", with a turned wooden handle. Overall 3_" high. The station closed on 5th September 1966. The image in the catalogue has been reversed to show the wording as it would appear when used.
