Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 12 July 2008
| Lot 25 |
A North Eastern Railway brass Key Tag "KEY FOR WOOLER SOUTH GATE, TO BE RETURNED TO STN", 4_x1_" with a 1_" brass ring and key attached. The station was on the company's Alnwick to Coldstream line which closed to passengers on 22nd September 1930. Freight traffic continued though the route was severed in 1948 by the closure of the Wooler to Ilderton section. The remaining stretch from Alnwick northwards closed in 1953 leaving Wooler served from Coldstream until 1965 when the closure of the Berwick to St Boswells route isolated this remaining section.
