| Lot 87 | A Locomotive Worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 68743, AW & Co LTD, 1922", from a North Eastern Railway Class E1, LNER J72 Class 0-6-0T built by Armstrong Whitworth & Co, Works No 414, in 1922, NER/LNER No 2336, renumbered 8743 in 1946, becoming BR 68743. In BR days it was shedded at Springhead, Dairycoates and Tyne Dock from where it was withdrawn in October. Following eight months in store at Tyne Dock, it was cut up at Darlington Works in June 1962. Cast brass oval (with renumbering strip), 9"x5", the front repainted long ago. |
