Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 4 October 2008
| Lot 36 |
A Southern Railway enamel Seatback Plate "LYME REGIS", from the terminus of the branch line from Axminster on the Yeovil Junction to Exeter Central Main Line. It was built under The Light Railway Act in 1903 and closed on 29th November 1965. The station never had totems and this is believed to be the first example of a sign from "Lyme Regis" to be offered for sale. The plate is white on green, 48"x3", with excellent colour and shine and a few minor edge chips and a screw hole chip to the top left of the "M".
