A Locomotive Worksplate "BRUSH TRACTION No 183, 1960, ENGLAND", from a BR Class 31 A1A-A1A diesel loco D5583 allocated new to Stratford in January 1960. It was renumbered 31165 in March 1974. It spent most of its life away from Stratford but returned there in 1987 and was the last loco overhauled at Stratford Depot before its closure on 31st March 1991, in commemoration of which it was repainted as D5583 and named "Stratford Major Depot" on 26th March by Alf Buffett, former Stratford Repair Shop Manager. The nameplates were removed in September 1994 and the loco was sold to Harry Needle in April 1998 for spares and broken up on his behalf at Adtranz Crewe Works the following September. Cast aluminium oval, 9_"x55/8", ex loco condition with original BR blue paintwork.
