An enamel notice "EAST KENT RAILWAY, PUBLIC WARNING NOT TO TRESPASS.....". The sign refers to the E.K.R order of 1911 and The Railways Clauses Consolidation Act 1845, referral to Justices... and is signed HF Stephens, Engineer and General Manager, Tonbridge Sept 1917. 15"x10", black on white, three face chips and screw hole chips, otherwise original condition with minor surface wear as is to be expected. The Light Railway ran from Shepherds Well on the Canterbury to Dover route to Richborough Port (north of Sandwich) with a branch to Wingham, in the west, serving the Kent coal fields.
