| Lot 46 | A locomotive worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 8691, DARLINGTON WORKS, 1914", from a North Eastern Railway E1 Class, LNER J72 Class, 0-6-0T, NER/LNER No 2174. It was renumbered 8691 in 1946, becoming BR 68691. Its BR sheds were Sunderland and then West Auckland from where it was withdrawn in December 1960. It was cut up the following month at Darlington Works. Cast iron oval, 9"x5", the front repainted white on dark green, the back in original condition. |
