The oval brass head is 1 1/4"x 3/4" with a turned and polished wooden handle, overall 3 1/2" high. These stamps were supplied by the G.P.O. to stations with Telegraph Offices for use on telegrams, but were often used for other purposes such as cancellation of railway letter stamps.
