Great Central Railwayana Auction Sale 125, Auction Lot 474
Lot 474 A tenderplate, "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 8542, BEYER PEACOCK & Co LTD 1908", from the tender coupled with a North Eastern Railway Class P3, LNER Class J27, 0-6-0, built by Beyer Peacock, Works No 5115, in August 1908, NER/LNER No 1221. It was renumbered 5851 in 1946, becoming BR 65851. A long time North Blyth loco, it was withdrawn from there in December 1965 and stored there for five months before being cut up at nearby Hughes Bolckows the following May. Cast brass oval, 9"x5", lightly cleaned but unpainted.
